![]() When the building is off you will still gain the experience (usually amount of simoleans made) to get your next upgrade but, won't have to pay the cost of running it. However once you have plopped any of the HQ and any of its additions you can turn the power to that building off. To run a HQ is expensive, the cost to run an electronics HQ is $450 an hr and once you have a consumer electronics division it will cost you an additional $400 an hr. If the button is red and the cost is 0 simoleons/hour, than the module is turned off. Click the on/off button at the bottom of this box. A small box will pop up telling you its current cost. ![]() To do this, simply go to the building editor and click on the upgrade your want to turn off/on. This saves you 7,200 simoleons/hour when you don't need them. However, in times of crisis, that same hospital can have 350 patient rooms and 8 ambulances for the increased price of 8,900 simoleons/hour. So normally you are charged 1,700 Simoleons/hour for 50 patient rooms for just the basic hospital. The basic building is still functioning. The buildings are already powered and watered (turning on a nuclear reactor will incease water consumption drasticly though). The buildings don't go looking for workers before becoming active. Turning the modules on gives an instant benefit. There are some advantages of doing it this way instead of just shutting the whole building down. Turn them off when it's business as usual again to save yourself lots of simoleons. Also suddenly having twice the number of firetrucks, ambulances, and patient rooms during and shortly after a disaster is quite helpful for dealing with the situation. This allows you to plan ahead and place your infrastructure in advance without constraining your current income too much. So if you do not have an immediate need for them, you don't have to pay for them either. However, you are only charged hourly for the upgades that are functioning. The obvious draw back is that you pay a lot of simoleons to place them and then get nothing in return. Shut down town/ city hall (warning: this closes all services that require the Hall such as garbage, fire, health, police, etc.).Shut down jail cells and the car lots of police stations. They won't function but you won't be charged Simoleons for them either. Shut down patient rooms and ambulances in your hospital/ clinic. It will not generate any power but no meltdowns will occur either, allowing you to place the power plant even if you cannot train the employees yet. Shut down all reactors of your nuclear power plant. While this may not appear to be important, it can be quite helpful in some situations. You can shut down upgades you have made to your buildings. Other bug fixes will be in there too, just dont know much more than that in Update 7 for now. Update 7 will include a road terraforming tool so you dont need to glitch a way to make tunnels or overpasses or even just a highway. It still works if they're side-by-side, but you won't be able to pull as much water that way since the radius of water dumping around the sewage treatment plant is a little small. While the technique can work anywhere, you're best served placing your sewage treatment plant and water pumping station back-to-back in a centrally located area. ![]() Just don't let them know where it comes from. As long as all the station's pumps are the filtration kind, it won't matter how dirty it is: your Sims will have nice, clean, fresh water to drink for the rest of their lives. To minimize illness, simply be sure that your water pumping station uses the water filtration pump modules, rather than the standard water pumps. Ergo, simply place a water pumping station next to a sewage treatment plant, and there you go: unlimited water! The rate of sewage treatment climbs with, but is always faster than, water pumping. The dirty truth is that the sewage treatment plant not only takes in raw sewage, but converts it to water and dumps it back into the water table. Using a simple technique with advanced buildings, you can ensure that your city has an unlimited water supply to work with. Look for all files in the current directory and in all of its subdirectories in Linux for the word ‘httpd’: grep -R httpd. R vs -r: I’m not sure if you actually care about the difference between -R and -r my guess is that you probably don’t: -R derefs symlinks while -r ignores them. Perform a case-insensitive search for the word ‘bar’ in Linux and Unix: grep -i bar file1. M-x rgrep explicitly prompts for a filename pattern to use when running, *and* gives you a nice result buffer that you can click/Enter on to go directly to the result in another emacs frame. Related postsįWIW, GNU grep has a way to do this that doesn’t choke on filenames containing spaces, and also avoids the overhead of starting a new process for each file (this was more of a thing twenty-mumble years ago when I was a baby sysadmin, but it’s still relevant if you have a very large number of matching filenames). org and search them for ‘cheese.'” It’s good to understand how both approaches work. ![]() org” whereas the version with find reads like “Find files whose names end in. grep -r word /path/to/dir The -r option is used to search recursively through an entire directory tree. I was discussing this with Chris Toomey and he suggested an alternative using a subshell that seems more natural: grep -l cheese $(find. Note what happened: all the files whose name begins with l are. One way to solve this is with find and xargs: Your files are kept in something called a directory. It seems that grep -R can either search all files of the form *.org in the current directory, ignoring the -R switch, or search all files recursively if you don’t give it a file glob, but it can’t do both. You have four files, two in the working directory and two below, that all contain the same string: “I like cheese.” org files in your current directory and below that contain the text “cheese.” The regular expression search utility grep has a recursive switch -R, but it may not work like you’d expect. ![]() ![]() ![]() It will, of course, also scan for potentially unwanted programs and actual malware threats, whether on your Mac or your removable media or in email attachments.Ĭustom scheduled scans can be set up, although the automatic background monitoring teamed with occasional specific manual scans is likely to be enough for most requirements.
